This Little Shoppe of Mine

I opened my little shoppe 21/2 years ago.  It was somewhat on a whim, a dream and my fantasy that people loved vintage, they just didn't know it yet.

My business plan was in my head with a few notes written on scattered scrap paper.

Through tremendous hard work, trial and error and support from friends, family and customers, I kept going.

Some days are better than others. I love both for different reasons. On slow days I manage to accomplish paperwork, rearrange and hopefully restyle.  On crazy days I am thankful for the purchases and the visits.

If you think for a second that I only work in the shoppe, you're not too smart.  When I work in the shop, it's the reward for the work I did behind the scenes.

Painting at midnight, driving to source product, ordering when needed, the computer work, the paperwork...it rarely ends.

I don't want it to end!

I am beyond thankful. I'm thankful for this opportunity and I'm thankful for the results.  I'm thankful for the people the shoppe has brought into my life.

I enjoy each step of the process.  Ok, not the paperwork!
As I look for ways to improve myself and the shoppe, I know I want to keep my dream going.

This past weekend was ah-mazing!  The energy in the shoppe was festive and shoppers were merry.  It was the reward for the craziness that made it possible.  Black Friday & Small Business Saturday

I know it's a long post, but it's been a long month of restyling, planning and decision making.

Thanks for reading and thank you for your continued support of Vintage Restyled.  It makes a difference in the lives of many.  And it is most appreciated!

Cheers to a Merry Season!

Open House

We had a marvelous Holiday Open House Thursday evening and Friday.

It exceeded my expectations and I am so grateful for your support!

It was a whirlwind leading up to the event.

On Thursday morning I was on, Good Day Columbus Fox28, and shared some of the handmade treasures that the talented artists make for the shoppe.

Giving handmade is always in style!

We opened our doors early and shoppers scored a sweet gift with purchase, yummy treats and a full shoppe filled with holiday gifts and decor.
Our sweet shoppers were happy!

Thank you for making the event a success!

We are restocked and ready for you today.  Note our hours are:
 11:00-4:00 Wednesday - Friday
10:00-4:00 on Saturday!

My First 5K

Hi All!
Happy Monday.
I have lots to share about our Open House and custom projects that are complete.
However, I must share a unique experience first.

That's right people!

All for the love of chocolate!

But let me back up...many weeks ago, I saw the hot chocolate 15k/5k advertised.

I don't run, but I like chocolate so I said I'll do it.

I twisted my friends arms and we committed.  And signed up.  And paid.  Yes people I paid to run.

It makes no sense, but I must have been in a funk when I committed.

So I started training. I went with Hubby and my oldest.  We walked a few miles. About 30 seconds in, I was bored.  Hubby was encouraging but it didn't work.  It sucked.

I followed up later that week and took the dogs. That was more enjoyable, but it still kinda sucked.

My next training resulted in me picking berries for a fall display in the shoppe.
My ability to focus is a major issue.

Fast forward to Saturday when I realized I had to wake up in the 5:00 am time frame on a Sunday.

What?

Who hates me? Why is this happening?

Next came the details I decided to figure out Saturday night:

What do I wear? I don't own a sports bra.
My Lululemon leggings are too nice to actually exercise in.
Does my number go on the front or back?

We made it down to the race. Somehow I pulled my booty out of bed.

And we finished!
We received some delicious chocolate that helped me forget the alarm earlier that morning.

In summary: I am not a runner.  I am not a morning gal.
I am a lover of chocolate, friends and a beautiful morning.
We had lots of laughs, good conversation and we even talked about our next one.
What?!?
I will be looking for a race that begins later in the day and offers killer swag.
But at least I'm open to another!

Enjoy your Monday!

College Weekend

Happy Monday!

We are back from our road trip.  Yes, we took a family road trip during my busy time in the shoppe.

Why would we do that?

Soccer of course.

We left Thursday for NC, checked in to our hotel and then...

TOURNAMENT IS CANCELLED

Hmmm.

Since we had this trip planned for 4 months, we had already lined up college tours.  Our daughters are in 8th and 9th grade, but since we were in the area, we figured we'd start the process.

First stop, Wake Forest.

We took the official tour and loved it.  It's beautiful, relatively small and very personal.

Next, we explored Elon.  Similar in size to Wake Forest, beautiful and quaint.  Worth exploring further and taking an official tour. (no photo)

Then we arrived just in time for our scheduled Duke visit.  Everyone knows about Duke. It has 6,500 undergraduates and the same number of graduate students.
It's a magnificent campus, much larger than the other schools.
We weren't loving it as much as we expected.

At the end of the day, we were exhausted. It was a lot.

Who knows where my gals will land. I'm going to embrace the process and help them navigate.

After another night in NC, we returned to reality and back to the shoppe.
Because this is an exciting week!

Be sure to join us!

Have a great Monday!

Ok Folks,
It was 74 degrees out yesterday.  I only heard about it because I was inside the shoppe restyling for the holidays.

Regardless of the weather, Christmas will be here FAST, so I got started!

Just a peek, lots more will be added before we open at 10:00.

Along with the nice temperature, the sun was a bit blinding as well!

I'm excited to share, pop in and see!

Open today 10:00-3:00
Thursday 10:00-3:00
Friday 11:00-4:00
Saturday 10:00-4:00
