Let me Introduce Myself...

We have had many new friends discover Vintage Restyled.  I thought I would share the introduction we crafted for our Presentation at The Country Living Fair.

Thanks for finding our little shoppe, we hope you'll visit again soon!
    ******************************************************

Hi, I'm Shannon, the owner of Vintage Restyled,
a small shoppe located in New Albany, Ohio,  just outside of Columbus.

Country Living Fair 2015

I am crazy about my two teenage girls, my very helpful business partner - Hubby, friends, family and my community.

USA vs Germany, Women's World Cup Soccer

Living in an old farmhouse with a 200 year old barn, I embrace the farm style way of life.  From the fresh eggs my chickens produce, to my decorating style I have grown to love vintage wares and especially vintage furniture.

My love evolved into a business.  First came the blog in 2010, then space in an antique mall, traveling to set up at shows and now comfortably settled into my community where I live, raise a family, operate my shoppe and support others that share my entrepreneurial spirit.

2013 Shoppe Opens

When visiting Vintage Restyled, you will immediately identify my passion.

The shoppe offers local artists and their talents along with Pinterest Parties, Paint Workshops and Restyling Your Furniture classes.

I can honestly say, I have never worked harder in my life and I love it!

We offer inspiration, ideas and instruction through our
Maison Blanche Paint & Restyling Classes.

We bring ideas to life through our Pinterest Parties.

We would love to meet you!

Major Accomplishment

I have been a crafty girl for a long time.

As a kid my mom had to keep me busy, so we got crafty.
I drew, painted, cross stitched, decorated cakes and even took up calligraphy.

Obviously, my life is in constant creative turmoil with the shoppe.
Testing, thinking, attempting, dreaming...
You get the picture.

However, I have never mastered making a bow.

Look at this!

Every year about this time I purchase gobs of beautiful ribbon with the vision of beautiful bows decorating my packages, my home and my shoppe.

Year after year, I go to my mother in law by mid December in tears begging for help.

Of course, a few moments later she whips up a designer worthy bow.

Armed with several rolls, scissors, wire and YouTube I embarked on my annual attempt to slay my nemises-the dreaded bow.

I had an hour and a half in the car to a soccer game.
Hubby drove, daughter had headphones on and I got busy.
I mention headphones because some bad words may have escaped from my mouth.

Bam
Take that ribbon -  I made a bow.
Several in fact!

I'm so proud.

An early morning soccer game, Starbucks Latte and a nice man on YouTube made this possible.

Let's see what I can accomplish today!

Darling Desk

Hi All!
I'm getting ready for the holiday season.

What?

Yes folks, it's coming.

I would hit the pause button if I could because I absolutely love Fall.
The temperature and colors are sheer perfection.

But then someone hits fast forward and soon the shoppe will be glittered in all things holiday.

I'm a believer in separating the holidays.  You will not see Christmas before November 1.  Promise!

I will begin to bring in some restyled furniture for the season.
I just completed this darling desk.
It will debut later this month.  But I couldn't wait to share.

She is finished with Maison Blanche Vanille and Mushroom.

The drawers have layers of paint-3 colors and are finished with light brown wax.

I love all the colors peeking through.

My daughter told me she loved it and it was a bit different for me.  Different must be good.

I finished her with cute polka dot paper in the drawers.

Can't wait to move her in the shoppe!

Until then, I will be painting, glittering, and sorting all the holiday goodies.

If you're like me and are enjoying this wonderful Fall season. Pop in the shoppe.  It is festive for Fall!

Open:
 Wednesday 10:00-3:00
Thursday 10:00-3:00
Friday 11:00-4:00
Saturday 10:00-4:00

Choosing Your Friends

I'm not going to show you my restyled shoppe or the new treasures we found.

Instead I'm going to write about something I have and cherish.

My 14 year old daughter has been having difficulty with her long time friend.  The root of the matter is jealousy.  It's an ugly thing and appears in many ways.

While we were discussing the situation, I found an example from my own life experience.

When I started my business in an antique mall 5 years ago, I was down the way from Polly.
She guided me on the ins and outs of running my booth.

Polly opened her shop in Canal Winchester a year before I did.  Georgie Emerson Vintage - I love everything she does and it's a darling shoppe!

When I opened the brick and mortar location, she offered suggestions and guidance.

Polly and I could be competitors.  But we are friends.  Friends that share ideas, vendors, market opportunities and even team up from time to time.

We have taken the path of building one another up, rather than competing.

Yesterday, I took a few moments out of my day to text Polly and thank her.

We are all busy, take a moment to thank people who have made a difference in your life.  Take the time to build up another person, friend or competitor.

I'm going to my happy place now!
I'll be there 10:00-3:00.
Have a great day.

Homecoming 2015

This weekend, I mixed a little girl time with the usual soccer games.

Saturday, I enjoyed watching my cinderella leave her sweats on the floor and put on a dress.

Yes, people a dress!

After all, it was homecoming.

Starbucks and a mani started our day.

Next we had to tame the mane.

My daughter has beautiful hair that doesn't perform well in rain and humidity.  Just like her momma.

We went to the professional for this challenge.

Stunning!
And look at that smile!  Braces were also removed in time for Homecoming!

I rocked her pedi and make up to complete her look.

Just beautiful.

Photos in our barn kept them dry. The weather did not cooperate,
but it didn't dampen the spirits of this squad.

This is a great group!

They enjoyed dinner out and danced the night away-in some crazy high heels.

So glad it was a success and a wonderful memory she will treasure.

An adventure

This past weekend we went to the lake for our final hoorah.

I left early on Friday to go pickin' along the way.  I decided to take a new path in hope of discovering some hidden gems.

I was quickly rerouted do to a detour and landed in a sweet lil town.

I popped in a few shops, picked in a gals attic and was taken to a
pumpkin farm with a small antique sale.

It was a beautiful setting with amazing out buildings and barns.

The people were so sweet and let me walk through each building.

The owner finds buildings on her trips, buys them and her husband reconstructs them on her property.  Awesome!

They have a huge pumpkin farm and supply pumpkins to all the major retailers in Ohio.
They were at the Country Living Fair.

I ended up staying a few hours, met the town doctor, his wife and many lovely folks.

It wasn't what I planned to do, but I'm sure glad I did!

I am always amazed and certainly blessed at the paths my business leads me.  It has opened my eyes to so much and introduced me to so many wonderful people.

Have a great day & weekend!

A Lifetime of Travel

When I went picking this weekend, I didn't have a specific list in mind.

I wanted what spoke to me.

And this suitcase was my favorite find!  Maybe my favorite of all time!

Every luggage tag from this lady's well traveled life.

To countries that are no longer.

Handwritten

It's just amazing to see.

I have this in the shoppe. It's worth looking at the countries, cities and tags.

The shoppe is open:
Thursday 10-3
Friday 11-4
Saturday 10-4
