Filling it back up!

On Friday I shared my traumatic (& forced) garage clean out.
We managed to park both cars in the garage and place a few treasures back as well.

A few days later...
I'm feeling better, as new treasures have found their way into the clean garage.

People, I know it's a disease. I'm trying, I felt I was more selective as I piled junk in my car.

It's really the girls fault.
There was an early soccer game in Dayton, the Route 40 sale was still happening and it was right there.  What's a gal to do?

Best news... Most is going to the shoppe! Look for a vintage, farmhouse vibe arriving for Wednesday!

I got Kicked Out

This was my view when I arrived home from work.

I thought Hubby was kicking me to the curb...again.

About twice a year, he pulls everything out of the garage and forces me to kiss my treasures goodbye.

Some beauties found new homes. Some were trash picked from our driveway, others went in my car destined for the shoppe.  A few made it back in the garage!

By 9:00, it was gone!

Before I celebrate and go junkin like I planned this weekend, the big barn is next on Hubby's self made TO DO list.

Ugh

The good news is there are treasures in the shoppe!

Open:
Friday 11:00-4:00
Saturday 10:00-4:00

Team Player

Happy Summer!
We kicked off Summer with sunny skies and perfect temperatures. Bliss

I enjoyed 3 soccer games in Erie, PA and Hubby took in 3 plus the championship game in Columbus.  We enjoyed every minute of it.

Normally, I would shift gears and share a before & after, but I want to continue with the sports theme.

Both of our girls play travel soccer. It's a choice we made as a family many years ago.  The girls love it, we enjoy our soccer families and have made the financial & time commitment.

It's a choice.

I feel strongly that kids should participate in a team activity.  Even when my oldest swam, we encouraged a team environment as well.

This weekend I traveled with my oldest to Edinboro University for two days of games.  The team had meals together, played cards in the evening and some shared rooms. It was great bonding, even with a few losses.

Teams are made through wins and losses.

Teams are made both on and off the field.

Leading up to the weekend, our goalie said she would not make the trip if she would only be in goal.

That was a tough pill to swallow. The girls felt let down by one of their own. Parents were not pleased.

It was her decision, made with her parents.

With two teenage girls, I am constantly saying, "this is a life lesson".  This is certainly a teaching moment.  This won't be the last time they experience something like this and this strong feeling of disappointment.

So what did I do?

I encouraged my daughter to play her best. To have fun and not to stress over it all.  I told her to remember how disappointed she felt, and to not make others feel that way-either in soccer or life.

I made memories with my daughter and her teammates and bonded with the parents. I didn't cook, clean or paint. We slept in each day and ate yummy meals with friends.

Soccer is so much more than 70 minutes on the field.  I think my 14 year old learned more about the meaning of being a team this weekend, than she has the last nine years.

Thanks for letting me use this platform to share my woes. I'll be back with some makeovers this week.

Enjoy the day!

Let Your Light Shine

By now you know that we love projects around here.  Lots of our days and weekends are taken up with maintenance and recently spring clean up.  That is when we aren't at a soccer tournament.

With only two soccer games and a free Sunday, we tried to be proactive and do a fun project.

Last fall we insulated, installed a tongue & groove ceiling and painted it.  This was done in our small barn with the hope of using it year round.  The job sucked, but looks great.

Last week, Hubby installed a ceiling fan with a light.  Much needed since it only has one small functional window.

Yesterday, we added some beauty to the barn.

Oh, how I love thee.  And what's better than one beauty?

Two!

We have sworn off repurposing old lighting.  So we purchased these at Home Depot.

A few more projects, some restyling and it will be ready for use.

Paris Markets

I hope everyone had a marvelous Mother's Day!
We had a great weekend. The first in 9 years that we were not at a soccer tournament.  We needed the free weekend to catch up on the lawn, the house and life.
I'm finally over the jet lag and am back to a regular sleep schedule. It makes a huge difference.
Many people asked if I brought stuff back for the shop.  As of now, what I bought in Paris, I'm keeping.  That could change.
I wish shipping wasn't cost prohibitive because I could have filled the shoppe tenfold!
From furniture to glassware, I loved it all.

Old treasures, each with a story.
I'm slowly gathering my goods and will share what I managed to bring home.

Have a great day!

A Tour of Paris

Yesterday I had the pleasure of introducing you to a beautiful part of Paris that Hubby and I loved.

The tour continues with the famous sites.

We did the Eiffel Tour at sunset, complete with a champagne toast. The views were spectacular!

To add to our cultural overload, we took in some art.
Yes, you've seen The Louvre, but somehow they never focus on the amazing building itself. The glass is such a small part, my least favorite part too.
It's just stunning. Once inside, I had to see the famous lady.
Yep, it's behind glass and the smallest painting in the place!  But it's now checked on the bucket list.
I caught up on missed church time with a visit to Notre Dame.

I lit a candle for my dear friends father.  The beauty of the cathedral reminded me of her and her wonderful family.
Pictures cannot capture the details. But it is certainly worth a visit!

Have a great day!
