Pinterest Parties!

We love our Pinterest Parties!  We have been doing them for over a year now and love the challenge of finding new projects!
Every Thursday, 6:00-8:00 ladies gather to get their craft on.  Each week, we change the project and provide all the supplies & instruction needed to leave with a handmade project!
Last week, ladies braved the snow and cold to monogram a rescued window.

We gathered again yesterday to create a few more.
So, fun!
Hard to photograph, but these are priceless!
Our talented friend Kathy never lets us down. We had numerous Pinterest fails to arrive at the best method.  That's the beauty of a Pinterest Party-we figure it out and teach you the tried and best way to complete the project.

This Thursday, we are stamping charms and creating a personal Alex & Ani inspired bracelet. You receive 3 charms and the bracelet for $25.  We have added a time, 7:00-8:00. RSVP: vintagerestyled@gmail.com.

Ladies can't have all the fun!  Kids get to get crafty too!
Saturday, February 28, Noon-1:30, $30.

Saturday, March 21, Noon-1:30, $30.

Reworking the Shoppe

Hi All,
My only goal this week is to get my kids to school all 5 days. No sickness, no snow, no excuses.
After last week, with holiday, illness and 2 snow days, we are off our schedules and out of sorts.
I worked the weekend, playing catch up. It was therapeutic.  Here is the result of my effort.
You can spy a darling item that was seen on Fixer Upper!
The cow tags make me happy too!
This antique wardrobe has so much storage!
A restyle was necessary to make room for this antique beauty.  I see her as a bar, but this secretary has many uses.
So much goodness throughout the shoppe.
I'm back there today for a private Pinterest Party and I'm sure I'll be restyling a bit more.  It's my therapy!
Have a great Monday!

La Chaux Tutorial

Hi Friends!

Happy Friday!  For most of you Friday is significant - the start of the weekend.  For many of us Ohio folks this week has been an extended weekend.  First, we were off Monday & Tuesday from school.  Wednesday, I had a sick kiddo (home again), Thursday no school due to it being insanely cold and today does not promise to be better.

My kids are way off their schedule, climbing the walls and I lost it on Wednesday.
So it's fun times at Casa Gabor.

My shoppe is in town and when school closes, I close. Not to mention, I cannot leave my 2 kids alone! However, regardless of today's outcome, we are opening.
I need my shoppe fix.  I need to escape the madness of my home.

So, today the shoppe is open 12:00 - 4:00.  It's the perfect time to grab your Maison Blanche Paint, some canvas' for the walls that you have been looking at or to be inspired.

Anyway, yesterday I shared a new technique for restyling furniture with Maison Blanche La Chaux Lime Paint.  You can read the post here.

Today, I thought it would be easier to share a video of the steps I took.  This video is the owner of Maison Blanche.  She makes it super easy to follow.

Here are some details as we have on the website.

The Maison Blanche Paint Company's La Chaux French Lime Paint is a traditional Lime Paint made of pure, European Lime, mixed with natural pigments. The result is a eco-friendly, zero VOC paint product made with minimally processed natural ingredients that will allow you to turn your walls into art and to paint furniture with stunning results.

Our French Lime Paint is highly alkaline, so it's naturally resistant to fungus and mold as well as being anti-bacterial. This feature makes it ideal for bathrooms, kitchens and children's rooms.

La Chaux French Lime Paint is more textural than chalk based paints. Lime Paints have been used for over seven thousand years and have even been found applied to the insides of pyramids! This is a very traditional European product and gives the look of multiple layers of paint with only one coat.

La Chaux

This beautiful antique wardrobe received a restyling.  I love that it was done completely in the shoppe!
The first step was to paint it with Maison Blanche Confederate Grey. One coat.
Then I applied La Chaux. This is a newer product from Maison Blanche. It's a thicker paint-like product that is applied with a brush over paint.
I did a few unique things to this piece as well. It involves a plastic bag and a credit card.
The result is a layered effect, with old world charm. Despite using one color of La Chaux, it gives the effect of several layers of paint, in different hues.

It is one of my favorite products and creates the perfect, unique finish.

Tomorrow I hope to share a video, that details the steps, the product and some of the techniques you can use to achieve this finish.

This is my third piece completed in this manner and I will be adding a class in April.

Please check our Facebook page throughout the day, as Mother Nature is not our friend lately. Our hours may change.
Be safe & stay warm!

New Paint Color

We just wrapped up a 4-day weekend. The girls had off Monday & Tuesday, as scheduled, and we stayed in town. Nothing too exciting-dinners out, sleepovers, shopping, family, Netflix and some DIY.
I'll take an extended weekend break, it's good for the soul.  However, I do not do well with idle time.  I can only go so long before the creative itch needs to be scratched.
A person can only stay inside, looking at her walls for so long, before they get painted!
This job went to our friend and wall painter, Mark. Hubby has retired and I am awful.
Hubby went to HD to get BM Grey Owl. It's a favorite of mine. Our master is done in this color and my whole shoppe.
When Mark started painting, it was VERY obvious that this was not the color.
It's so very dark.
I've spent 2 years attempting to lighten this house up!! Ugh
Being a mature adult, I am embracing this cozy color that is now in our guest room and bathroom.  And as a DIY gal, I'm feverishly painting everything else Maison Blanche Oyster, to lighten it all back up.

Bathroom cabinets
You may recall that our 1901 Farmhouse has dark trim. I've been dying to paint the trim, but am trying to live and embrace the original 100+ year old craftsmanship.
A few more long weekends and I'm not sure I will resist the urge!
Anyway, I'm off to find new bedding, towels and white accessories.
Shoppe is filled and ready for you. OPEN today 10:00-3:00.

Shoppe Restyle

Hi Friends,

I have been away from this blog and spending lots of time on Facebook.  I would love for you to come play with us over there!  Vintage Restyled.

We are staying busy with SOLD OUT Pinterest Parties for both adults and kids.  In between those parties, we are restyling the shoppe.  Minor tweaks here and there, but today will be a major restyle.

I always need a restyle to keep me motivated and inspired.

We received a shipment of our favorite farm animals and some new ones.  We also have beautiful home decor goodies (non-animals) that you will love.

Look for updates as the restyle begins this morning.

Fun in the Sun

Welcome to February!

With football behind us and lots of snow on the ground, it's only logical that we would bust out the paint brushes.  I'm making up for some lost time.  I was under the weather last week, sounding like a sexy Demi Moore for the bulk of the week.

Then on Saturday, my youngest became a teenager!  In celebration, we went to Mad River Mountain, a local ski & tubing area.  I envisioned myself sitting in the Ski Chalet sipping tea and reading, all next to the roaring fire.

If you have ever been there, you are laughing right now.  Instead, the fire was outside and the picnic tables set up inside the dumpster with a roof was not very inviting.

So what did I do for the 3+ hours?
Because I was with teenagers, they had their phones, snapping pictures and even capturing my bloody screams on video.  I will not subject you to that!

It was a beautiful day filled with lots of laughs, screams and fun.

It did nothing for my empty shoppe or my illness, but Daughter #2 enjoyed every minute.
Just what we wanted.

Now, the party is over & we will be rocking it for Wednesday when we open.
