Show Recap

First I must get it out there...I am a hot mess.
This 6:00 am wake up, soccer until dark and the shoppe have kicked my booty this week, and I have another day to go.
I've been bouncing around with no direction, just getting through the day.  Hoping I don't forget a kid or something less significant.

Since I am bouncing, I thought I would jump back to Saturday and fill you in on the show at Aladdin Shrine.  The Columbus Arts & Vintage Marketplace is held one day a month at this location.  We set up in June, skipped July and then this past Saturday.

We loaded up on Friday and took a sampling of the shoppe and some new restyled items.
The alarm went off at 5:45 am, Hubby did the unloading with Melody and then I arrived to help style our space.  I had the easy job!

It was 10x12, and we cram a lot into that little space.

We build up, so shelves are a must to house the smalls.
We brought a sampling of Maison Blanche paint and wax.

We even pushed the boundaries a bit and spilled over to one side.  Thankfully, no one complained.

Melody and Amy worked the show.  They did an amazing job representing Vintage Restyled!
Their energy and love for the shoppe and all things vintage made it easy for them.
I'm grateful that they love it as much as me.

Overall, I think we are all over lugging big, heavy furniture for a while.  We need to focus on the shoppe and getting that ready for fall and the holidays.

I will be in the shoppe today, 12:00 - 6:00.
Teaching a Maison Blanche - Restyle Your Junk from 1:00 - 4:00.

Pop in and see our new goodies!

Our Mudroom Reveal

Hi Friends!

Today is the start of school - woo-hoo!

I won't show you pictures of my 7th and 8th graders, instead I share today the miracle of organization.  I share the reason I will not lose my mind when I enter my house.
I share the mudroom.

Isn't that the most beautiful sight?

This is where it started.

Blank, painted walls, with a few hooks.
Hubby lined the walls with tongue & groove boards.

Then he built 4 cubbies with additional shelving above.
He used cabinet grade wood.

Let's remember that this is a 100+ year old home, so nothing was even, square or level.

I would have been happy with it at this stage - built and primed.

But we continued and here it is in all its beauty!

Plenty of room for shoes and boots underneath.
He upcycled old legs I had.  Sometimes it's good to be a hoarder.
Each cubby/locker has 3 hooks.

We reused the hooks we had.

Each family member has an initial, so there is no confusion as to where to place your crap stuff.

Hubby did the whole project in a weekend!
He did an amazing job!

I am over the moon thrilled with this space!

Show Stress

Happy Friday!
The last day of summer for us and the day before our show!  The stress is building.

Yesterday I shared that I have a plan when approaching a show.  Today is execution day.

Hubby has already exerted his desire that I be organized.  Not necessarily as nice as I made it sound, but you get the drift.

Saturday's Schedule:

5:45 am   Alarm/Shower/Lots of coffee

6:30 am   Arrive at Aladdin Shrine for set up
                Hubby unloads my car first
7:00 am  Melody arrives with her full van
               Unload all

7:45 am   Hubby leaves

8:00 am  I arrive at Aladdin Shrine for booth set up

9:00 am   I leave for soccer tournament

10:00-5:00  SHOW!
Melody & Amy work their magic
I return to Aladdin Shrine between games
5:00       Breakdown
5:00       Last soccer game of the day

7:00     Another shower and wine

WOW - as I type this I think I need a nap.

Something magical occurs when the show starts.  We find our energy, we talk with our customers, we catch up with other vendors and somehow 7 hours flies.  It's such a fun environment, lots of inspiration and so many great people.

We are loading this evening.  I'm sure we will make adjustments as we go but we have restyled furniture, small handmade items, farm fresh finds, chicken wire gems, Lavender Sage candles, a small sampling of Maison Blanche Products and so many oddities.

I am in the shoppe today, 10:00 - 3:00.
Come get your paint & vintage fix before the weekend!

Saturday - Columbus Arts & Vintage Marketplace
                  @ Easton, Columbus OH
                  10:00 - 5:00

Monday - school starts!  I have a feeling I will catch up with y'all Tuesday!

Have a great weekend!

Restyled Furniture for the Show

I often have a plan when preparing for a show.  It might be to focus on smalls, farm finds, an eclectic mix of furniture and colors.  Whichever it may be, there is a plan.

Saturday's show is coming quickly and I am altering my plan.  I finished so many pieces of furniture and I want to take them all.

That is NOT an option.

So I am playing around with color, size and height to build the booth.  It's amazing how small 10x12 becomes when you move furniture in!

Anyway, here is a look at some of the finished goods.  Details in another post.

This Bassett beauty has been restyled in Maison Blanche Silver Mink
It was layered over Maison White and rubbed back in spots.  Love the look!.

Antique Writing Desk- wonderful detail.
Restyled in Maison Blanche Hurricane & Clear & Light Brown Wax.
My daughter wants this, but I plan to take it to the shoppe/show.

Dry brushed with Maison Blanche Hurricane and Clear Wax.
The original distressed color was too awesome not to incorporate.
The new jewels fit her restyled look.

This baby is darling.  Firm seat and in great shape.
Presented as found.

I will have a few other treasures to share, as we put the finishing touches on.

We are open TODAY 12:00 - 6:00
TOMORROW 10:00-3:00
CLOSED on Saturday - see us at the show!

Columbus Arts & Vintage Marketplace
Aladdin Shrine near Easton
Columbus, OH
10:00-5:00
SATURDAY, August 23

Note: we will happily bring any Maison Blanche supplies with us to the show for you.  Just email us at vintagerestyled@gmail.com or on Facebook.

See you soon-

Heavily Distressed Island

I had to have this.

It was in pretty good shape and I wanted it for my kitchen island.

Since you would see the back, I tried a dry brush technique with blues and grays.

Then I decided against this for the island.  If you have been around here, and are counting, I am up to 8 large pieces of furniture that will NOT be my island.
I just keep hauling these big pieces home, only to discover they won't work.  UGH!!

So, I started to look at this a bit differently.

She received one coat of Franciscan Gray and then I heavily distressed her with a palm sander and a sanding block.

Adding to her charm, we coated her with Light Brown wax (Maison Blanche of course).

It's different for me, but this is where the piece took me.  She was old and liked her age!

I left the top wood, just sanded and touched her up.  Leaving some age spots.

I haven't decided if she is going to the shoppe or if we take her to the show on Saturday.
It will be a game time decision.

OPEN TODAY
10:00 - 3:00
Loaded with new goodies and Lavender Sage candles.

Restyling our Chairs

As we prepare for the show this week, everything is in the almost finished stage.

Let me share a project that is actually complete.

Last November my friend posted chairs she had just scored and placed in her shoppe.
I claimed them and ran down to get them.  I wanted them for Thanksgiving at our home.

They needed painted and recovered and I had a week to get the 4 of them restyled.

Then the goal moved to Christmas, New Year's, St. Patrick's Day, Easter...

We did it - we made it by Labor Day!

I painted them in Maison White by Maison Blanche.
Clear wax was used and no distressing.  My girls will naturally distress them!
We used outdoor fabric, hoping it would hold up well and scotch guarded it before covering each chair.
A contrasting gray trim was used and really pulls the chairs together.

These make dining a pleasure.
