The Dang Birds

I love animals.
With that said, I might end the lives of a few nasty birds.

For the last 6 days, I have been woken up to the sound of a jackhammer.  Around 6:00 am, on the weekend maybe 7:00.  It is the most unpleasant way to start the day.

Hubby is not using a jackhammer, it's been a damn woodpecker.

Woody seems to like something in/on/near our chimney.

So after the crappy start to my days, I escape to the shop to do some yard work.

Looks better than the weeds and dirt, don't ya think?
Hubby did a great job on the rocks.

Anyway, so I escape to the shop and what do I see?

Bird crap everywhere.
Dripping down the window ledge, on the brick and even splattered all over the window.
How does it get on the window?

Of course I have no supplies to clean bird crap. Who does?

So yesterday as the sun came in the window, it highlighted this mess for me to see all day.

Plan to scrub it down with a bucket and brush.  What fun!

In summary, I like most animals.  But right now, life would be a bit better with a few less birds.

Open today
12:00 - 6:00
Friday 11:00 - 4:00
Saturday 10:00 - 3:00

LeDirt

LeDirt is a finishing product exclusively offered by Maison Blanche distributors.
I had only read about it prior to going to Maison Blanche Headquarters in Texas last fall.

It has to be one of the most unique finishing products that I have seen and used.

It is easily applied over a painted and waxed surface and settles in the nooks and detail beautifully.

After buffing,  you are left with an incredible sheen and highlights in the details.

I just painted this darling coffee table and used it in an Advanced Maison Blanche Workshop to demo LeDirt.
After the class, I spiffed her up and she is now finished and available in the shoppe.

It brings out the detail beautifully.

I was unable to capture the sheen that LeDirt provides, so you'll have to pop in and see it for yourself!

LeDirt is $16.95 and will last you forever!

Open TODAY 11-4!

Painting the Mantel

While watching the NCAA Final 4 games next to the fire, I decided the mantel needed a change.

Of course you know what's coming.
I started painting.  Hubby kinda freaked and grabbed the tape, but it didn't slow me down.
Please ignore everything else that was propped up and pushed out of the way.

Maison Blanche in the new Ivory did the trick.

I believe I did the mantel, under the mantel (until I was dying from the heat from the fire) and the 2 side pieces during half time.

We lived with it since the game and have decided to paint the brick.  A reveal will be coming soon!

I wish I could just relax like a normal gal.

Restyled Side Table

Hello & Welcome!

Hope you all had a great holiday weekend!
The weather was just perfect and we enjoyed every moment of it.

Now it's back to biz.  I changed up and finished a darling side table.

This classic style was restyled with our favorite, Pecan - Maison Blanche Paint.

I love this neutral color with both the Lime Wax - White and the Dark Wax.
Since I couldn't make up my mind on which to use, I used both.
Dark wax highlights the details on the legs and the base.
Lime Wax in White highlights the center on the top.

It's a perfect match.

It's now in the shoppe.
I am off to receive a big shipment of Maison Blanche today - love when the UPS man arrives!

Have a great day!

Pinterest Party

Happy Friday All!

This week has gotten away from me.  I wish I had a ton of projects to prove my productivity, but unfortunately that isn't the case.  I could show you lots of in-progress, but you would not return, so I will wait for the before and after stage.

I was fortunate to teach an Intro to Maison Blanche Paint on Wednesday evening.  We had a great time.  These ladies were so excited to see how simple it is to restyle a piece of furniture.
Their enthusiasm was contagious and now I am reenergized.

We also rolled out our second project in the Pinterest Party Series.  A Pinterest Party is when we gather to make a project that we find on Pinterest.  Then Kathy makes the project to determine what supplies are needed, how long each step will take and what skills people may need.  We have selected projects with no skills required!
We then source the supplies and provide everything, including instruction, at the party.

Pinterest Party - Chalkboard Tray

Last night was beautiful, so we moved the party outside.

Kathy rocked the power tools!
We had a blast!  Lots of laughter, conversation and accomplishments!

Finished Product:
Your choice of 3 foot or 4 foot chalkboard tray.

Mantel Makeover – Fireplace Complete!

Yesterday I shared one of our larger projects that Hubby and I completed.  I figured I should share the finished post as well.

When we open the cottage this month, we will take on a pretty big project, however, the fireplace will always be our favorite!
_____________________________________________________

As you know, we selected one big project to complete at the cottage – the fireplace!
We worked in several stages:
When I left off we had to finish the base in stone and figure out what to do with the mantel.
Hubby tackled the base.

Cottage 021
After this stage, we were done with the stones.  It really completed this focal point in our room.

Next, I took on the mantel.  It is a solid piece of wood, so out came the paint.
Cottage Treasures 006
It has a nice detail on the front.

Crazy blue!  It is a sample oops pot I got a while back.  I used it on my French Chair.
Cottage Treasures 009
I covered the blue with an oops gray.

Once dry, I took 100 grit sandpaper and rubbed over the detail on the front.

I am so thrilled with the end result!
So, here is a quick before and after.
