Buffet Reveal

Hello All!

So excited to share a before and after with you, on this Black Friday.

This buffet was handcrafted and well loved.  She just needed to be restyled to be loved again.

She was fixed up and then restyled with Maison Blanche Furniture Paint in Cerise.  She was distressed, waxed with both Dark Brown and Light Brown waxes.  The unique & original hardware was used.

She is a beauty and so pretty dressed in red.  The top was restored and kept in its natural wood.

I am in LOVE with this baby!

She is making her debut today in the shoppe.  Stop in to see her, you will love her as much as I do!

Today, I am open 11:00-4:00.

We vow to provide a relaxed, happy and festive shopping experience.

And then, you will want to come back tomorrow!  You'll want to join us for Small Business Saturday!

It's the best time of year!

A Teaser

Good Morning!

Today is going to be great!  Why, you might ask.   For starters, I do not have to go to Walmart like I did yesterday.  I absolutely loath that place and the people that frequent it.  Now, I must say, the location closest to me is absolutely dreadful, I am sure there are better locations.  Ours is awful.

I only go to get one item and I buy every one of them and hold off going as long as possible.

Since I was already in a bad mood, I decided to add to it by going to the AT&T store.  Why is it always an hour, costs me money and I leave with nothing?

So, today will be a great day. I am bringing in some goodies to the shoppe, finishing up some others and baking for Thanksgiving.  I might even blast some disco as I do all this.  Just to keep me smiling!

Hate to be a teaser, but I will only give you a little look at my latest restyled treasures.  The reveal will be soon, I promise!

I found this cute idea on Pinterest and had to make it!  I made two - one will be in the shoppe.

Let me tell you, this one of a kind beauty is stunning!
I restyled her in Maison Blanche Cerise (red), distressed and waxed her, using multiple waxes.

If we could fit her in the house, she would be a keeper!
I promise, the reveal is coming soon!

Small Business Saturday

As a small business owner, Saturday, November 29 is a big day.

On Small Business Saturday, you are encouraged to support your local Mom & Pop shops.
When you support local business, you are helping your community and igniting someones passion.

On Saturday, November 29, we will let you sleep in.  We will be open 10:00 - 5:00, because we are moms and have another job when we leave the shop.  And because we need to sleep too!

We will have specials.
Totes to the first 10 shoppers.
We will have complimentary coffee and hot cocoa.
We will have Christmas tunes blasting and the shoppe will smell wonderful.
We will be filled with holiday favorites and loads of inspiration for you!

During this week of Giving Thanks, we are thankful for your support throughout the holiday season.  We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, November 29.

Dangerous Job

After yesterday's post, I must say: thank you All for loving our candles as much as we do!
We will continue to restock and carry all your favorites throughout the season!

Now, on to today's post.

We work in a dangerous field.  We lift and load, flip and push furniture and other oddities every day.

Alright, it's not really a dangerous industry, unless your my Hubby.
My poor other half, did a number on himself.

See this insanely long screw?

There are a lot of uses for this screw.
Putting it through your knee, is not one of them.
OUCH!

Hubby was rolling out and installing turf in our barn, for an indoor soccer field.
The screws kept the turf rolled up, so when he unrolled it, he didn't see the screw and bam.

He had to lay on his back for a while, so he wouldn't pass out.  The pain was excruciating.

He made it to the doctor, tetanus is up-to-date and antibiotics will (hopefully) flush out any infection.

My poor guy.

Never a crutch free day in the house!

He doesn't want to be discovered, so I cropped his pretty face.

I am heading to the shoppe today, where it's safe and warm!

Shoppe is open TODAY 10:00-3:00 & 6:00-8:00.

Festive Scents

We are in the holiday spirit around the shoppe!
Although, I must admit, I played Christmas music for the Open House
but had to resort back to my usual tunes on Friday.
I'm not a ba-humbug, just need to celebrate Thanksgiving before jumping in with both feet!

Anyway, back to the Holiday Spirit.
One of the first things customers notice when they enter the shoppe, is the wonderful smell.

Each month we feature a candle-of-the-month, and burn it while open.
Our locally made candles are fantastic.  They burn beautifully and the scent is double poured, so it has a strong fragrance right til the end.
Regardless of the scent, the candles are neutral with simple packaging = no tacky label!

In addition to our candle-of-the-month, we have special holiday candles.
Same fabulous fragrance, just holiday jars.

Large and small.

Because they make wonderful hostess, teacher, friend, hair stylist...really anyone, we will be stocking a large variety of scents and sizes for the season.

Prices range from $8 - $12, for the candles shown and an extra large size at $20.

Perfect gift & price!

We are open today & tomorrow
10:00 - 3:00 & 6:00-8:00.

Promise, the shoppe will smell festive, even if Fleetwood Mac is playing!

TV Appearance

My 14 year old is an excellent public speaker.  Our school is responsible for that.  They started them at a young age presenting to groups, classes and even the entire grade (430+ kids).
That is a life skill that she will be thankful she has!

I do not have that skill.  I am a hot mess when called on to speak in any capacity, to a group larger than 3.  Now, I have done it throughout my school, college and professional and volunteer careers.  Usually, I get a stomach ache, my palms sweat and I do everything to stop my voice from shaking.

So when I was asked to appear on Good Day Columbus last week, the day before our Holiday Open House and 2 days after our NYC trip, I tried to take it in stride.  I tried to practice the breathing tips and all the other tips I was given.  I think it was a good thing that we had so much going on, I wasn't able to  freak out as usual.

Julie Kriss, from Kriss Enterprises, held my hand along the way.

We arrived and set up our segment area.  Not knowing exactly how fast 5 minutes would go, I brought half the shoppe with me!

Needless to say, it felt like seconds and then we were done.  You can see the segment for yourself!

I also had the pleasure of completing a Pinterest-inspired craft in an hour.

I chose the light-up canvas as the craft.  We will do a similar one in our December Pinterest Party.

I am thankful for my 15 minutes of fame.  I am thankful that I didn't vomit, pass out, choke or drop any inappropriate words during that time.  I am grateful to Julie for putting up with my craziness, Melody for prepping the stools for me while I was in NYC, and Shelly for seeing me at 6:30 to tame my crazy hair!  Oh, I cannot forget my poor family, they listened to me freak, discuss and practice what I would say.  None of which I did say, but - oh well.

Yes people, it takes a village.

Now it's back to my calm and productive week as a regular gal and not the tv star I was last week!

Open House

Hello!
Welcome to a calm and delightful week ahead!
I am confident that it will be calm compared to last week.
And what a week it was.

Thank you for supporting my business and our adventures.
We sure love our shoppers, friends and faithful followers!

If you are just joining us, here is a brief recap...

We had a wonderful time at our two-day open house.  Thursday was overwhelming and we loved it all!

This baby found a new home.

We restocked this a few times.
Apparently, there is no JOY left anywhere in the shoppe!  But we were able to restock a bit by Friday.

I wish I had taken pictures of the shoppe filled with people, food and festive spirits!

Melody, Kathy and myself worked the evening away, along with family members joining us.

The nature of my business is to feature one of a kind, unique finds and supplement with seasonal handmade and purchased items.  Because of this, we are all hard at work to restock and source treasures for the shoppe.  Wednesday, the shoppe will look very different!

That's what keeps us busy, excited and (hopefully) keeps you coming back!

Thank you All, for making this possible!

In addition to the open house, I had the nerve wracking pleasure of appearing on Good Day Columbus.  I can't wait to share details on that.

Cheers to a calm & productive week!

A Restyle on TV

You might have one of these hiding around your house -

A generic stool that you picked up for your counter, work room or bar.

Tune in tomorrow at 9:15 to Good Day Columbus on Fox 28 to see how we restyle these stools!
