A Break

I am taking a break.  It's probably one of the worst times to take a vacation,
but I doubt there is ever an ideal time.

We had this planned for some time now, and have been looking forward to hanging out and catching up with dear friends from NY.  Truth be told - I am pretty excited.

Lisa is working the shoppe, so I know all is good.  We have a house sitter, so my chickens will be a-ok.

And we depart.

In preparation for our time away, I have been trying to get ahead of the game and paint some pieces.

I am unplugging, walking away from my paint and planning to enjoy family and friends.

Before I sign off for a week, here are some details:

SHOPPE HOURS:

My Favorite Picker

My brother-in-law is my favorite picker.  He has a great eye, goes to different places and has been doing this a lot longer than me.  The man knows his stuff.

On Sunday when I went for a visit, I was delighted with some of his latest finds.  Though we were celebrating Barb's birthday, I felt like I got the gifts.

I picked my favorite to share with y'all.

It is so unique, it was love at first sight.

It has it's own stand that it hangs from.  It even has the legs, which is a first for me.

I think she will hang, totally exposed in the shoppe.  Perhaps I will dress her.  Either way she will be available today.

OPEN TODAY
11:00 - 8:00
(Hit the awesome farmers market & then come shop)

A Gift from Hubby

Hubby surprised me the other day when he returned from a trip with a present.

No flowers or jewels.  Something even better...

Nothing says LOVE like a crusty, time worn door.  The colors and patina are absolutely ah-mazing.
It has a porcelain knob and the lock is on the outside of the door - not built into the door.  Just priceless.

It is available at the shoppe.  But you better hurry because I may just find a place for it in my home.

SHOPPE OPEN:
Today-Saturday
11:00 - 4:00
Thursday
11:00 - 8:00

Dresser Love

Every once in a while I come across a piece that stops me in my tracks.

Sometimes it's the details of the piece.

Other times, it's the history that draws me in.  This Amish toolbox was what the men carried their tools in when they went to build a house.  Yep, everything in this box.

The dresser I just painted sucked me in by the classic, timeless style.  A little Pure White Chalk Paint and it's more to my liking.

Between the bowed front, the wood, the keyholes and the mirror - I was smitten.

There she sits in the front window waiting for a new owner.  I hope someone loves her as much as me!

Have a great Tuesday!

Changing it up

Good Monday morning!  Hope you had a great weekend.  Ours was a blur, it came and went so quickly.  I spent some time with family in downtown Columbus last night.  I must say, it was lovely - Scioto Mile, fountains, dinner on the water.  I guess I don't get out too much anymore!

I also picked up a paint brush and hooked up with my favorite picker to bring you new gems this week!

One thing that I learned from Heritage Square Antique Mall, it's best to rearrange and make the space look fresh.  My ADD kicked in and that is just what I did!

NOW

I moved this to the front window,  got it all set and it sold.

I vow to offer a new shopping experience on Wednesday when we open!  Pictures coming this week, along with some before & after shots.

Cheers to a good week -

Time to Paint

First, thank you to everyone who has supported our opening week at the shoppe!  We loved meeting area folks, catching up with blog and Facebook friends and sharing our vision with all.

We are a work in progress and promise to keep the store fresh and fun!
Which I am finding is easier said than done!

I need to paint.  Which is a good thing.
So, if you come shop today or tomorrow, you may find me in painting mode.

These beautiful pieces are waiting to be restyled.  I'm torn on colors.  They can be custom finished in the color of your choice, if you're interested!

Otherwise, they are in the shop and ready for my paint brush.

Thanks again for the emails, comments and support we have received.  It has been a fabulous few days.

Why the Change of Heart?

Over the last two+ years, Vintage Restyled has evolved and taken on many different challenges.  As we developed, we considered all opportunities and tried most.  As a result of the effort, we embarked on our newest challenge - shoppe ownership.

If you have followed this blog or have endured hours of deliberation with me, you know I did not enter into this quickly.  In fact, I explored this in December and decided not to move forward.

That's the beauty of being your own show.  You simply change your mind.

Why the change of heart?

When I looked at the space in December, I was considering it solo.  It was a big monthly expense and too many hours, for just me.  I keep my costs very reasonable and I did not think I could find, fix, restyle and run the shoppe and still offer affordable finds.  Perhaps feeding my kids and offering my daily taxi service played a role too. Hiring someone would just add to the expense.  Needless to say, I tabled the decision and tried to move on.

So I proceeded with business as usual.  Took on more custom work, added a spring show and continued to look at options.

Lisa and I were scheduled to work on a photo shoot for a giveaway.  We have known each other for years and both have our own business.  We chatted about the building still being available and what it would take to open a shoppe.

Two days later we were walking through 15 W Main St., and as they say, the rest is history.

Lisa features NEW items - jewelry, Jessie Steele products, gifts and lots more.

I'm doing what I love - finding and restyling vintage goods and furniture.
By joining forces, we are able to offer something for everyone at affordable prices.

We have a lot to learn about ownership, offerings, displays, finances and everything else involved with a retail location.  We are anxious to get feedback and make adjustments along the way.

Sometimes things happen in unexpected ways.

Come see me this week:

Come on in the Shoppe!

We are in recovery, restocking mode today.  So, until I have some new projects complete and ready to share, I thought I would overload you with pictures from Saturday's opening.

My 11 year old was the photographer, and she did a fine job, but there is no rhyme or reason to the photos.

The main room, as you enter from the parking lot.

Look at all the fun jewelry!  Gifts or treats for yourself, so much fun!
We have a middle room that we had planned to keep closed off.  It will be where I paint, but we decided to open it up on Saturday and show some unfinished items and smalls.  Once I start painting, we may have to keep this locked - I am not a neat creator!

This is the room you see from the street.

As I type this, I know I am heading there to remove the sold pieces and restock.  It will look different when we open on Wednesday at 11:00!
