Unique Treasures

Share

Over the weekend I went to the cottage.  Of course when I travel there, I must stop along the way, visit my favorite pickers and fill my van with treasures.

Here is a quick look at some items I spied.

These two are working electric fireplaces, the cases are handmade and darling.  I considered one for the shoppe for the winter months.  Wouldn't it look great for the holiday season?

This vanity is just darling!  She is begging for a restyle!

This wardrobe was the reason for our trip.  It is for a gal and will receive a custom makeover.

What is it?

I saw this huge piece and was immediately smitten.  I kept looking at it because I couldn't quite figure it out.  The seller was telling me he believed it was from the late 1700's.  What!

Know what it is?

Here's the back.

It did not come home with me.  I do not think it could, even if I wanted it.

But truth be told, I have no use for a Murphy Bed!  Yep, that beauty is a bed!

The shoppe is getting an overhaul today!  Can't wait to share!

From the Garden

With all the crazy weather we have experienced this summer, our garden has exploded.  This is Hubby's baby and he has taken pride in planning, tending and picking his veggies.

We had an abundance of cucumbers and of course we cannot let anything go to waste, so now we have some delicious pickles.  Two flavors - dill and bread & butter (my fave).

Hubby called in the expert - his momma - for guidance.

In addition to the pickles, he has canned a mix of hot peppers, apple sauce (in the fall) and will be making tomato sauce this week.

We have eaten a veggie every night, nearly all summer, from our garden.  It's been a rewarding experience and a tasty one too!  We have even ventured out of the usual foods and tried some new items as well.

Maybe you'll spy him at a farmers market next year!

Restyling the Shoppe

Happy Monday All,

By the time this posts, I will be at day 1 of swim championships.  We were supposed to get a break from the heat, but I'm still waiting.  No reprieve yet.

We had a great week at the shoppe and moved some items along to new homes.  As a result, we spent some time rearranging, restyling and even brought in some new goodies.

Here's a look at what's in progress and will be ready when we open on Wednesday at 11:00.

This tiger oak desk/table has beautiful lines.  Paired with a shabby chair.
Just finish, moved into place and SOLD.  Be sure to like us on FB to see the latest pieces!

Wouldn't you like to hang out here?
I love, love , love this chippy door!  But it's for sale in the shoppe.

I plan to work tonight, if I have any energy left after swimming.  Who knows, the shoppe could look totally different come Wednesday morning!

Farm Fresh Pickin

It's no secret, I love the picking part of the process.  I love spying a hidden gem, an abandoned barn and even roadside rescues.

When I travel to the cottage, it takes me twice as long to arrive.  I love the rural towns I travel through and am always drawn to something.

Starbucks Knockoff

I am not a cook, so I rarely share recipes on this little blog.  However, I am an addict.
So I needed to find a cost effective way to feed my addiction.

Today, I bring you a little summertime recipe.

The funny thing is, I rarely drink Starbucks Coffee.  That is an old addiction that I have kicked.
Now I have a new love.
I needed something thirst quenching and one thing lead to another and now I enjoy one daily.  However, when we were at the cottage, there was no Starbucks.

Detox?

No, I made my own.
Purchased at the grocery store.  I boiled water and poured it over all 6 bags.  Let it sit for 5 minutes (or more).  Remove the tea bags, pour it in a pitcher, place in fridge.

Then I made dinner.  A few hours later...

Since I had already ordered one from the real store earlier, I used the same cup.  It has convenient measuring lines!  In went the ice, the tea (to the second line), then yummy lemonade.

If you are uber fancy, you could pour it in a shaker and make it perfectly.  I may try that tomorrow.

Now I can refill when I want without ever leaving home!  I'm sure I will save lots of money too!

You can bet it will be at the store with me today!
