Over the last two+ years, Vintage Restyled has evolved and taken on many different challenges. As we developed, we considered all opportunities and tried most. As a result of the effort, we embarked on our newest challenge - shoppe ownership.
If you have followed this blog or have endured hours of deliberation with me, you know I did not enter into this quickly. In fact, I explored this in December and decided not to move forward.
That's the beauty of being your own show. You simply change your mind.
Why the change of heart?
When I looked at the space in December, I was considering it solo. It was a big monthly expense and too many hours, for just me. I keep my costs very reasonable and I did not think I could find, fix, restyle and run the shoppe and still offer affordable finds. Perhaps feeding my kids and offering my daily taxi service played a role too. Hiring someone would just add to the expense. Needless to say, I tabled the decision and tried to move on.
So I proceeded with business as usual. Took on more custom work, added a spring show and continued to look at options.
Lisa and I were scheduled to work on a photo shoot for a giveaway. We have known each other for years and both have our own business. We chatted about the building still being available and what it would take to open a shoppe.
Two days later we were walking through 15 W Main St., and as they say, the rest is history.
Lisa features NEW items - jewelry, Jessie Steele products, gifts and lots more.
I'm doing what I love - finding and restyling vintage goods and furniture.
By joining forces, we are able to offer something for everyone at affordable prices.
We have a lot to learn about ownership, offerings, displays, finances and everything else involved with a retail location. We are anxious to get feedback and make adjustments along the way.
Sometimes things happen in unexpected ways.
