Georgie Emerson Vintage Guest Post

Hi!  It's Polly here from Georgie Emerson Vintage guest posting for Shannon while she's away on Spring Break with her sweet family!  I was so touched when Shannon asked me to guest post for her!

Shannon and I met a couple years ago when she opened up her booth at Heritage Square Antique Mall where I have also set up shop.  We've become friendly and share a similar design aesthetic.......we both love painted furniture and crafting and decorating.  I've picked her brain a million times getting advice on chalk paint and wax.  It's so nice to have a friend in the "biz" that gets me; someone who I can bounce ideas off of; someone who also gets geeked up over a good curbside find!  And it's wonderful to have a friend that supports and encourages you in your endeavors.  I'm happy we met and have continued to build our friendship.

Today I'm going to talk to you about DREAMS.  Reaching for the sky.  Believing in yourself.  And taking a leap of faith that might scare you to your core.  For me, that day came when I called the number on a little sign in the corner of a window at an empty storefront in my town.  The opportunity to own a little shabby shop was dangling in front of me like a carrot in front of Mr. Ed!  I was excited.  And scared. But I set my fears aside and reminded myself that I didn't want to get any older and wonder "what if?".  When I got the call that I was approved and the storefront was mine if I wanted it, I was full of so many emotions, I don't even think I can properly articulate it.

A few weeks later, it was opening day and Georgie Emerson Vintage was born!  A wee space, just 484 square feet that I have filled with shabby vintage treasures, painted furniture, locally handmade wares, and even an assortment of new decorative items for the home.  It has become my home away from home, my refuge, my happy place, my dream world.

Shannon encouraged me so much along my journey.  She was here that first week full of enthusiasm and support and even lunch!  I am so thankful for that kind of friendship from a kindred spirit and vintage DIY lovin' girl!

As you travel through your daily life, never let go of your dreams!  Keep reaching for that one thing that makes you giddy inside, that makes your toes curl when you think about it, that one whisper that is always in your ear.  Keep dreaming!

Thanks Shannon for letting me guest post on your lovely little blog today!  Feel free to stop by my corner of the blog world now and then, you can find me here!

Thank you so much Polly for sharing your journey and encouragement!  You are an inspiration to all of us who are trying to figure it out!
