Hello All,
Thanks for your comments and texts regarding our trip to Texas. It was a great few days and now I am back to work in snowy Ohio.
I found this old chest a few weeks ago.
I am not sure what this is. Perhaps the bottom of a Hoosier cabinet? I do know that the oil based paint job was old and tired and in need of some love.
I made my own chalk paint. (sample pot of latex, 2 TBS non-sanded grout, water) I wanted it to be a nice, sunny yellow like this rocker.
But, it was blah.
So I switched it up with homemade chalk paint in blue.
Too country for me. So I decided I would dark wax it with Annie Sloan wax.
Nope, it wasn’t working for me either.
What now?
Red
Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Emperor’s Silk went on right over the homemade blue and the yucky oil based paint.
Here she is…
I rubbed back the red and let the blue come through. In some spots the yellow comes through as well. I love the depth the colors give this piece and the character that was created.
This beauty has been waxed and is ready for the shop. Hope to get there before the weekend.
I suppose the moral of this post is to continue playing with paint until you find what you like.
Stay warm & be safe-
