Painting the House

As you know we are in the process of moving.  We had a little over a week before we moved in, so we got busy preparing our home.

First on the agenda was paint.  I have a love-hate relationship with interior paint colors.  I find selecting paint color completely overwhelming.  To make my decision more daunting, we left a home with cream trim and landed in a house with dark wood trim.  Yes, it makes a huge difference!

With all the windows we had and all the cream trim, we went with a darker color to warm the place up.

New Home:

New home- the wood floors and dark trim dictated a lighter color.

I am absolutely thrilled with the choice.  That is a first!

Next to the fireplace the color looks beige, over the molding it looks grey.

Let’s just call it Greige.

Color: Smoked Tan from HD

Paint: Behr

Finish: Washable flat

The previous owners had many colors throughout the house.  The one wall in the living room was textured and a darker shade of green/brown.

The walls were sanded down and painted the same color as the rest of the house.

Daughter #1 selected a blue for her room.

The master is done in conservative grey.

We got creative in a few rooms.  Creativity takes a really long time, so I can only share a peek of one of the rooms.

This is Smoked Tan and a creamy white.  Both by Behr in a flat.

It isn’t often that I get an interior paint color selection right.  But I am thrilled this go round.  Perhaps painting our 6th house is a charm!?

I’ve been busy painting many pieces of furniture, (and ignoring the boxes).  But I have some exciting news to share and can’t wait to show you some of my favorite pieces!

Have a great day!

XO-

All photos are taken at different times of day with overhead lighting and no window treatments.  Please excuse the quality!

It’s good that you had the chance to fix your home’s interior colors so it’s not off putting to look at different shades and tones in the same room. Would love to see how the striped one turned out. Have a good one!
