Red Table Redo

Hope you all had a great weekend!  I was struggling with some sinus issues – too much sanding on Thursday-so I was not as productive as I would have liked.  I could paint but when I hit the sanding step – no way!

Odds are in your favor that you will find a gate leg table at an antique mall.  I usually do not pick them up, but my picker (brother-in-law) grabbed one for me at auction.

I attempted to sell it in its original condition.  No luck.

You would think I would learn that I seldom sell anything in its original state.

Out came the Emperor’s Red paint and some waxes.

Besides just a good cleaning, the top required some love.

Hubby busted out the sander and stripper.  (I left the garage at this point!)

Isn’t that beautiful?  I love the grain.

Two coats of a special finish for tables and she is done.

This versatile table will be in the store by Tuesday.

Have a great start to the week!

Lovely makeover Shannon. I have a gate leg table like that that was one of my Grandmother's wedding presents. It is a cherished possession. I've been thinking about painting it off-white, but haven't been able to bring myself to do it yet.
How is business at the antique mall? I haven't been out there in ages. Gave up my space at Peacock Lane and just doing Etsy stuff for now. I really needed a break from furniture and honestly, not sure I'll go back to it. There must be an easier way to make extra money :) Cindy
