It’s Good to have Guests

Our dear friends from the lake ventured to Columbus to hang out during our 5 day weekend.  We have spent the summers together for the last few years and this was their first journey to Buckeye town.  Two adults and 4 kids.

A self imposed rule that I established long ago is to clean the house for first time guests.  After that, they can see how we really live!

This was their first time. So, I got busy cleaning, redecorating and attempted a little organizing.

This is our guest room.  We completely overhauled this room and all the furniture in August when we had guests.  You can see the process here.

Our playroom, turned den was completed last year as well.

You can read about the makeover here.

The guest bath received a coat of paint, a framed mirror, crown and some minor tweaks.

So that leaves the girls rooms and their jill and jill bathroom that we also updated last year.

That brings us to the first floor.

I will share that in another post!  Lots of indecision in this room.

Cleaning:

As you can see from the above photo, we have white woodwork.  Yep, it shows everything!

Since I am always looking for a magical solution to cleaning, I will share my newest attempt to never clean again.  Well, at least not my baseboards.

After you vacuum and clean your floors, wipe down your baseboards with whatever cleaning solution you use.  Let dry.

Then, wipe the clean baseboards with a dryer sheet.

This should deter dust.

Well, I did this on Saturday morning, so I will have to let you know how it goes.  The reviews were great.

Perhaps, this nifty trick that I got on Pinterest will let me avoid the baseboards for a while!

Have you tried this?  Does it work?

Enjoy your Thursday!

XO-

I have never tried the dryer sheet trick, I hope it works!! I loathe cleaning baseboards too, so not fun. I love that bedspread in the first pic, everything looks so inviting :)
