Crazy Weather

Hi All,

The weather broke long enough for me to capture some Spring shots.

Spring 003

Our Redbud.

Spring 005

Very lush and green grass…it won’t last, but I guess it’s the benefit of all this rain.

Easter 003

Their colors are getting more vibrant every day.

Just when I was thinking good thoughts about this crazy weather, I receive a text from my husband with this photo:

Tornado

They actually got out of the car on the freeway and jumped in a ditch!

Everyone was safe.

Why a photo was taken at this life threatening moment is up for discussion!

Be safe!

Thrifty Treasures

Hi All,

Despite my need to get busy sanding and painting, I took a trip to a thrift store (or two).

Taking advantage of sale day, this is what $5.63 got me.

Easter 041

Easter 042

3 cute Williams-Sonoma plates.  Just have to figure out what they say!

Easter 043

Sweet little tea pot.

Easter 044

Cool frame, ugly picture.

Easter 045

Cool frame, even uglier picture.

Easter 046

Ironstone.

There are many more treasures to be found!  I did pick up a table and a dresser but I shoved them in the garage and now they are not picture worthy!

Progress is being made on Decorators’ Show House and my store has been updated – for now.  More updates tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping.  Would love to have you follow along!

A Little Black

Hi All,

The day is nearly here.  Lisa is coming to select the pieces for the Decorators’ Show House.

Here is an after shot of one of the pieces.  In my frenzy to get all the pieces painted, I simply skipped the before shot.

This table is sturdy, solid oak.  I am not a fan of oak.  So, I primed, stained and painted it until I was pleased.

Union Jack 010

Heavily distressed.

Union Jack 012

You can see the white under the black.  This was stained and then a coat of Poly was added.

I will be back this week with a sneak peek at all the pieces that can be found at the Decorators’ Show House.

Thanks for stopping!

Making the Most of what I Got!

Hi All,

I’m happy to say that my booth has been picked over.  Now, the only problem with that is I do not have a lot completed to restock.  So I am making the most of what I got!

Here’s a look:

Booth Update 008

Heavily distressed white side table with storage.

Booth Update 009

Booth Update 002

Still loving blue!

Booth Update 003

Can you see the blue frame in the back?

Booth Update 004

It is a wine rack, but Hubby had the idea of a bench and shoe rack.  We’ll see if anyone prefers this use.

Booth Update 007

Another Metal Message Board.  One day I will keep one of these!

Booth Update 006

Happy Spring!

Booth Update 001

I hope to have a major update within the next 2-weeks, as I prepare for the big sale!  I better get busy!

Have a great holiday weekend!

Simple & Sweet

Hi All,
I just completed a few more pieces for the Decorator Show House later this month.
This is what I started with:
table and more 024
Of course, this is after it was cleaned and sanded.
DSH 001
Primed and painted in Heirloom White.
I could have stopped here, but it was somewhat ordinary.  So, I lightly sanded it.  I am so glad I did, it really highlights the curves and the details.
DSH 003
DSH 009
DSH 010
I am proud to say that I refrained from staining and just protected it with a poly finish.
I hate to part with this simple piece, it would look great in the cottage!  I hope it finds a new home!
Have a great day!

Preparing for the Wedding

Hi All,
With all the hype for 4.29.11 and the Royal Wedding, I jumped in to show my love.
Union Jack 009
I have a side table that needed something.  Let me take you through the creative process:
I was inspired by Miss Mustard Seed.  She completed a few dressers by painting Union Jack on the front, I was smitten.
Union Jack 002
Grab 9-year-old and put her to work.
Union Jack 004
Allow her to paint.
Union Jack 007
OOPS – this is what happens when you talk on the phone, have a guest in the house and attempt the creative process!
Grab another table and start again.
Union Jack 006
I actually like it at this stage.  But I added the white.
Union Jack 001
Union Jack 003
Union Jack 004
After it’s painted, sand it (for the distressed look), stain it and done.

Thanks for stopping – have a great day!
