This weekend is the Country Living Fair in Columbus. It feels like Christmas morning! I cannot wait to attend bright and early Friday.
A year ago I attended my first Country Living Fair with two friends. I guess I can say, that was the inspiration for what is now my business.
It was amazing to see all that talent, creativity and ideas in one place. My girlfriend purchased many, many items and I immediately went home and got on Craigslist.
The same night I found a desk that for some reason I had to have. A quick trip to a shady neighborhood, $25 later, I owned an ugly brown desk.

I sanded it, then primed it all. I removed the hardware and trashed it.
I used spray primer and then Heirloom White spray paint. Gave it 2 good coats.
Next, I purchased a quart of Ralph Lauren Ebony Glaze. Glaze is runny and goes on with a foam brush. You do not need much at all!
So over my freshly painted desk, I brushed on the glaze. With a damp paper towel I wiped the glaze off. This was the fastest part of the process, it takes no time at all!
Next, I ran to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and picked up the new hardware for a $1 each! That is a fabulous deal! So here it is:

Shot of the hardware & the glazing:

I was so proud of this desk.
A few months later it landed in my space on opening day and was the first thing I sold.
I can hardly wait to see what inspires me this year!
Have a great day! I will be back with pictures on Monday!
XO-
Shannon

Thanks for your comment! I love my ReStore! We have scored many items - cabinets for our cottage renovation, new countertops, sinks, etc. I try to visit a few times a month because you never know! Let me know what you find.
I was fortunate to pick up the RL Glaze before it was discontinued. It totally changes the look. I have been glazing EVERYTHING lately!
